My name is Emrys Calin and I’m writing to express my interests in being a student athlete candidate for your football program. I have just completed my 2013 junior season at Myers Park High School, which is in the Southwestern 4A conference (includes Butler HS and Independence HS) in Charlotte, North Carolina. I started last season as a strong safety and was moved to outside linebacker because of my physical play and to help fortify what was, at the time, a weakness in our defense. I am currently at middle line backer this year (2014). I have faced much adversity in my high school football career, including 3 coaching changes in the past 4 years. So I have bounced around to different positions and forced to learn different defensive schemes and responsibilities each year. This has helped me expand my knowlege of the game and learn to be flexible with what I am learning. I hope that you see me as someone that will bring hard work and leadership to your school and as a good fit for your program. Please also keep in mind my strong family ties to the game of football, as my grandfather (Michigan), father (UConn), and uncle (Towson St.) all played college football.
