Personal Statement

Hello, My name is Tyler Richmond. I go to Southern Durham High School where I play OLB/Edge.

My parents really shaped me into who I am today by being hard on me at times and making me work for what I wanted. This made me work even harder to be the best in academics and athletices. And with both of my parents attending, graduating and receiving multiple degrees from 4-year colleges, it pushes me to maintin the standard which has been set in front of me. My dad was also fortunate enough to receive an athletic grant to play college football for his undergraduate degree. With this said, they expect the best from me in the classroom as well as on the athletic field.

One thing that got me interested in playing football was knowing my dad played football at the collegiate level and then attending college games with him. As a son, I’d like to follow in his footsteps and play at the collegiate level. While playing this sport I have learned that not everything comes naturally and you really need to work even harder for what you want to achieve.

With there being two commits to major football colleges during the 2022 season at my position, I had to work even harder to earn my playing time and played out of position to get on the playing field as a sophomore. This taught me to not take things for granted and do every at 110%.

When it comes to academics, I feel it comes before sports so I strive to be the best I can in the classroom. Plus, my dad is a high school teacher so that also helps. Overall I feel that I would be a good candidate for colleges to look out for in the near future.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
