Personal Statement
I have the ambition to keep on going even when things happen that are out of my control. I am dedicated to helping others & have helped my mother through a great deal of our lives. I am the 3rd of eight children (I also have a twin). I have a great focus & goal on the things that I want out of life. I have wanted to be an architect since I was around 4 years old. I started playing football in the 5th grade & have been playing every since. High school was a struggle with domestic violence, still playing football & having to live in a domestic violence shelter. Not too long after that our house was violated by shots fired due to domestic violence while we were home. This caused my siblings, mother & myself to become homeless for a while, living from hotel to hotel until we found a house in March 2020.
I say all of this to say that I am still determined to keep going no matter the situation. I still get up & practice everyday even though due to Covid-19 there is no football. My mother often asks me, "son, what is in that bookbag, why are you bringing that, we're just going to the store". I simply reply to her, "my football stuff, you never know!"
I am inspired by Ray Lewis because his life reminds me of my own in his younger years with domestic violence in which caused him to get out there on the field to start playing football.
Covid-19 has been a challenge for me dealing with school & remote learning. I am working harder to try to stay afloat with my classes but hope to start taking one on one lessons & make up work with my teachers individually during this time.
