My name is Mason Hunter and I am a student and multi-sport athlete ('19) at Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC. My primary positions on the Varsity football team are Inside and Outside Linebacker. However, at the Varsity and JV level I have also played QB, TE, H-Back, Slot, WR and Long Snapper. When it’s not football season I play multiple positions in both basketball and lacrosse, which help to keep me in shape, improve my physical skills and develop my mental strength. I am a high IQ player with the versatility to adapt to the needs of the team.
My collegiate goals are to get a great education and to play football. My education is very important as it is the one thing that can never be taken away from me. It is a critical tool needed to succeed and helps to open doors to opportunities throughout life. Education builds intelligence, character, integrity, curiosity and wisdom. Football plays an equally important role in life. It develops leadership skills and teaches us valuable life lessons such as teamwork, working within the framework of the team and the importance of putting team before self. It requires self-motivation as well as the ability to motivate others. Football teaches us the discipline, dedication and commitment required to work as a team to achieve a common goal.
What I am looking for in a football program is the opportunity to positively contribute to its success both on and off the field, the opportunity to compete, and the opportunity to continue growing and developing as a player, and as a young man, who aspires to one day provide the same type of opportunities to someone in my charge. What I offer in return is the dedication to all-out effort, the discipline to grow and develop intellectually and physically, the ability and desire to lead and motivate, and commitment to the success of the program above myself.
