Personal Statement
My name is Shawn Lodge. I am a scholar athlete that attends St. Vincent St. May High School in Akron, Ohio. I have been around the game of football as early as I can remember. I grew up in a football family. My dad played college football and has coached pee-wee and high school football for over 17 years. I played pee-wee football since I was 5 years old and every year since. I am going into my senior year. I have had the opportunity to play varsity football and start varsity as cornerback/wideout my sophomore and junior year. The game of football has been an important part of my life. I love the game. I am a student of the game. It is something that I look forward to playing in college. What makes me a good candidate for collegiate football is my work ethic and knowledge of the game. I study the game and I love playing the game. I have learned a lot of tough life lessons from the game and relationships that I have gained with my teammates and coaches. I have learned the importance and value of collective work and responsibility, self-determination, and unity. These life lessons and values have been instilled in me from my family and have been helpful and a guide for me on and off the football field. Although football is my passion and favorite, I also run track and am involved in other extracurricular activities at school. I am good student. I maintain above a 3.0 grade point average and am on the Merit Roll. I plan to study Business with minors in accounting and entrepreneurship. I have focus and drive and come from a good family and foundation that keeps me on track and successful. Attending a private catholic school has instilled in me the importance of self-discipline, community, and having a sense of community. I do a lot of work, training, and studying off the field and outside the classroom. I am dedicated, excited, and looking forward to an opportunity to play at the next level.
