Personal Statement

Mitchell Dinkins – Anderson High School 2021 LB

Football is my passion!  Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot more to me than just football.  I have many interests like spending time with my friends, family, and dog (Captain).  I enjoy traveling and playing just about any sport.  In school, I find science and graphic design very interesting and possibly there is a future career waiting there for me.  But football is different.  It’s what gets me out of bed each morning.  I mean that quite literally as our team lifts before school 3-4 days/week.  I couldn’t have imagined doing this just a few short years ago, but now I am completely committed to my high school football program and work hard every day,  year-round to improve myself and the team.

Football is in my blood and have played since 1st grade.  I had the opportunity to play both ways through eighth grade as a linebacker and running back/receiver.  As a starting linebacker my freshmen year, we had a very successful season going undefeated in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference.  Now as a 6'0", 195 lbs sophomore I have made the transition to playing at the varsity level.  This season I never missed a practice, workout, or day of school and played LB and on special teams in all 10 regular season games and in 3 playoff games.  Reaching the Ohio Division 2 Elite 8 was a real thrill and motivates me to continue to put in the effort and hard work to achieve even greater levels of success.

Academics are another huge part of my life that I focus on every day.  In my transition to high school I maintained a 3.0 GPA in my first year while taking advanced math and second year Spanish.  I am committed to improving my academic performance with a goal of all A’s and B’s.  I know what it takes to excel and I am willing to put in the effort to succeed on and off the field.  #WorkWins
