Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Zachary Steinbrunner and I am from Versailles High School in Versailles, OH. I am a 6’5 senior TE/K/P/OLB/DE/SS. My coaches have moved me around quite a bit on the defense side of the ball to fit what is best for the team. I believe my athleticism is the reason why my coaches can move me to virtually any position on the field. My primary position and the one I would prefer to play in college is Tight End because I love to have the ability to run block along with making receptions down the field. I currently run a 4.8 40-yd dash and weigh 205lbs. My goal is to add mass and get up to 210 or 215 by the official start of my senior year to be ready for our first game. Along with excelling on the field, a major goal of mine is to shine in the classroom. My GPA is a 3.97 on a 4.0 scale, with a 4.0 being the absolute highest possible. This ranks me 11th out of 108 in my grade. My college decision is going to depend highly on academics as well as one with a competitive football program. My biggest goal for my senior year is to get quicker and stronger as these are essential to play college football. My other two sports, basketball and track, will help with my agility and our spring weights program is going to make me stronger.

If I am lucky enough to play college football, I will fight for the chance to play on Saturdays as a freshman. My goals for college on the field would be to dominate the person across from me every play and have the attitude and confidence that with hard work I will be better than anyone. I fully understand that high school football and college football are different in the fact that seniority plays less of a role and the best player at each position will start. I look forward to joining a team with friendly coaches who get to know their players but will also push us to be the best football player on and off the field. My belief for college is that I have so much more talent to gain because the small school I am from does not have nearly the weight coaches and machines to make me into the best player that I know I can be. My first job in college would be to bulk up with help from the coaching staff, as they know healthy and effective ways of doing this. The knowledge that I can learn from a college coaching staff versus a high school staff I expect to be drastic and that can only help me get better. I feel like I can flourish on any football team and in any system because high-quality Tight Ends are hard to find and are increasingly valuable. I have loved playing football all of my life and love watching college and the pros during the season. There is so much to learn from watching football games, and I would say that my greatest aspect is being alert and knowing the situation and what is the best thing to do at all times on the field. I would love for the opportunity to play Division 1 college football and firmly believe that I could thrive anywhere. Coaches say, “you can’t coach height” and that applies with me. I feel like I have been blessed with my natural abilities and would love to showcase them playing football in front of thousands of fans. Competition in college is huge, and I want to compete with the best players from around the country. Finally I want to thank you for reading this letter, and I hope for the opportunity to play football at the next level.
