Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Tristan Everett Gillis.
I'm going to be honest, I did not do well in the class room throughout high school. This is due to my fault and my fault only. Every year I slacked but somehow managed to stay afloat and get by with passing grades. But I should have been getting above average grades because I know I have above average intellectual capabilities. I just chose not to use it. Primarily it was due to class work being to easy and not challenging enough for me but that is no excuse, I should of pushed myself into higher level classes. I wish I would have. But with all that being said I'd like to ask for, a "second chance" at school, if you will. I know second chances are rare in life and if you let me prove it I will show you that this second chance will not be taken for granted. I am striving for the best, I want to be the best, and I know college will help me be the best I could possible be. I don't want to go to college for just sports but also to learn. I didn't learn much that I didn't already know in high school. I have a head for numbers and I believe I could be a great business man, so business management seems to be the proper path. Aside from the class room I'm a great all around athlete. I learn fast and every sport I've attempted I've exceeded at. Primarily soccer, football, bowling, and track. I can kick an average of 65 yards on kick-off and be down in the end zone in time to tackle the opponent who caught my ball. All I'm asking is for a chance, at a chance at college. Please contact me so you can get a better idea of who I am.
Sincerely, Tristan E. Gillis
