Personal Statement
My name is Brandon Zemp, I am 6'1", 190 pounds, and currently run a 4.6 in the 40. FootbalI is my passion and I will do whatever it takes to play college football. I currently have a 3.69 GPA. I also ranked in the top 91% at the Nike Combine in Oakland last May, and was the MVP of the Stanford DB camp this past summer.
I am an ambitious student-athlete in my senior year of high school, as well as the founder and director of Wakeboarding For Autism, a non-profit organization using wakeboarding events to raise awareness and funding for continued research into cures for Autism.
At our last fundraising event we raised more than $5,000 which was donated to the Stanford Medical Center and their Autism research department. My goal is to become an MD in neurology, because the human mind is a mystery I want to unfold.
In part because of my work with Autism research and my relationship with my younger brother Casey, who has Autism, I was selected as the KOIN TV Student Athlete of the Week during this season.
I also filmed a public service announcement for TV with former Portland Trailblazer Jerome Kersey and state representative Mike McLane, to raise money during the holidays for NW Autism Foundation. And most recently, I won the KGW Rachel’s Challenge Hero of the Month Award, given by KGW TV.
Says Brandon's coach, Ryan Cochran: "You have a great kid who busts his tail. He is an excellent student and is one of the most respectful kids I have ever coached...He is a hard working student and teachers know that. I have checked with all of our kids teachers and his name keeps coming up as such a hard working kid...You guys are doing a great job raising him."
SPORTS AS A FOCUS
I have trained for several years with Matt James, as well as attending Barton football camps for many years, learning leadership and football skills.
While I have experience in a number of team sports, including soccer, baseball, basketball, and wrestling, my passion remains football, and where I have dedicated my athletic focus.
For the 2012 season I was named Iron Cowboy of the Year (team award), Player of the Year MVP (team award), 1st Team All League Offensive Utility, and 1st Team All League DB.
