Personal Statement
My parents tell me not to brag about my accomplishments; I am shy and try to change the conversation when others congratulate me on my achievements. But given this platform for me to sell myself over the thousands of other capable athletes, I believe I will have to display much hubris.
I have been around football my entire life. My father is a coach at the high school level and I have spent a lot of time with him around his teams during training, practice, and games. I have learned quite a bit by watching his teams. That has enable me to become a leader to my teammates; to show and tell what is right and wrong when it comes to being part of a team and pass that knowledge to my teammates.
My goal is to play college football at the highest level. I am an offensive lineman. Though I am a good athlete that can play any number of positions, I have been placed on the line because of my size. I take great pride in being a lineman on both sides of the ball because I have the opportunity to hit someone in a different colored jersey on every play. My dad was a lineman and is a line coach, so that knowledge and philosophy has been instilled in me. The game of football begins with the line. I know we are not the ones that are highlighted too much, but there is a quiet pride among our group.
I enjoy being part of a team. The idea of working together toward a common goal is exciting and emotional. A team is like a family. I believe that when a group of people from different backgrounds can come together and work towards a goal, there is no better feeling.
