Personal Statement
My passion for football emerged when I began playing for the Coatesville Area Kid Raiders. The excitement and competition of the game was always a driving force for me. Our team won the Bert Bell championship. I've spent the past four years playing Varsity football for Coatesville High School. The privilege of being a member of a team, under the leadership of Matt Ortega and his staff, has given me the opportunity to develop my athletic abilities, as well as the challenges I needed, to develop into a more mature and dedicated student-athlete. Our team won two District I Ches-Mont and PIAA District I championships. The summer before my senior year was dedicated to strength training and conditioning, with a personal trainer, while working and attending numerous football camps. I had committed myself to playing to the best of my ability in preparation of sharing my athleticism and competitiveness to college recruiters. However, my senior year had its challenges. All of my hopes and dreams of playing on the collegiate level came to a raging halt. Early in the season I suffered a fractured humorous. The news that I was out for the remainder of the season will never be forgotten. The uncertainties of my future seemed to slip through my hands. But the experience made for the greatest turning point in my life. I learned to put aside pride, and I now ask for and accept assistance from others without feeling weak. The outpouring of support from my family, coaches, teammates and community humbled me and gave me a greater sense of my strengths. An opportunity to be coached and trained to play on the collegiate level would provide me with an even greater challenge: to develop my athletic strengths and academic goals in pursuit of overcoming a setback. I commit to champion my greatest comeback in the game I've come to love and respect.
