As a student athlete I believe that I can have a great impact on both the football field and in the classroom. I realized that I had gained in incredible love for the sport of football in the fifth grade, that love for the game has always stuck with me. Unfortunately, I had no father figure growing up, until the age of eight. My mother married a great man who showed me a lot about life that I wouldn’t have got to understand without him. He introduced the game of football to me around the age of eleven years old. My first season of football was very rough, I had no football experience or knowledge, and I was petrified on the field. With the love and support of my parents, I did not give up. Every season after that I worked hard to become the best athlete I could possibly be. What I have learned through hard work and perseverance is that anything I could put my mind to I can achieve. I have learned to be a leader and team player throughout my football career. Football has taught me to reach deep within, work hard, focus, learn, and follow my dreams.
I transitioned from a public junior high school to a private preparatory high school. I was able to overcome my academic obstacles by teaching myself new study skills, new test taking strategies, and improving my time management. My goal in high school is to achieve honor roll, to be able to letter as a sophomore on the football team and become a well-rounded gentleman. I have also found gratitude in participating in community service through my high school. I’m hoping all my efforts and achievements will allow me to become accepted in the college of my choice.
