Personal Statement
I am Elan Nash, a junior at Unionville HS in PA. I'm a 2 year 2-way varsity starter, CB/WR, earned my third varsity letter this season, and was named a captain junior year. Being named a leader by my teammates means a lot to me and is a responsibility I take very seriously. Demonstrating leadership, integrity, and hard work, on and off the field, are important values of mine that I strive to live everyday. This season I was named First Team Defense All League and Second Team Defense All Area, and was also a top receiver on my team. I received invitations to the US Army National Combine, Beast of the East, and Nike Football Opening Regionals, and am included in the 2014 Tom Lemming Report. I'm taking 3 AP courses and 1 Honors course, and am working hard to maintain my 3.7 GPA having finished 9th and 10th grade with High Honors. I recently received my results from taking the SAT for the second time, I raised my math by 30 points, and scored a 1380 in Reading + Math (2020 overall). I was selected as a student mentor for incoming freshman in 9th grade, which I've continued doing, and was selected to the Students Helping Other Classmates Leadership Council this year. And I continue to be a service leader and teacher in my religious community.
This past summer I attended Deion Sanders' inaugural Prime 21 Camp in Dallas, TX, invited as 1 of 21 DBs. 48 student-athletes attended from around the country, including top DBs/WRs/QBs. I was coached by Deion Sanders, Joe Hayden, Patrick Peterson, and Ed Reed. What an unbelievable opportunity, the football and life lessons were terrific, and reinforced for me how important leadership, character, integrity, family, and hard work are in every aspect of life, everyday. I attended several college prospect camps this summer and got a good sense for what it will take to compete and thrive academically, athletically, and as a whole person at that level. I am laser focused on rising to the challenge. I also was invited to and attended FBU Top Gun for the third time as well as SVS East Coast Elite Showcase.
As a sophomore, I was named second team all league and received an honorable mention all area at defensive back. I led my team in interceptions and was also one of our top receivers. As a freshman, I earned a varsity letter, double-shirted for varsity and JV, and was named JV Offensive MVP. I am also a 2 year varsity letterman in track & field and was Sophomore MVP and Freshman MVP after successful indoor and outdoor seasons.
My goals are to continually and significantly improve myself on and off the field, as a student, an athlete, and a leader to make the best use of my potential and contribute in meaningful ways to my school, my team, my family, and my community.
