Personal Statement
I am a student athlete, and I believe that I can positively contribute athletically mentally to the team that I may be fortunate to be a part of. My work ethic consists of motivation, determination, and focus. I am dedicated and coachable. I am a versatile player and have started on both sides of the ball since I was 8 years old. I have played every position from Defensive End, Center, Offensive Tackle, Tight End, and all Special Teams. Currently, I am the starting Defensive End, Tight End, and Long Snapper for the varsity football team. At the end of last season, I received the Defensive Rookie of the Year award leading the team in sacks. This year already, I received the Sticker Helmet Award from our local newspaper, and had my highlights on our local news. With all of that said, I take all of the skills learned, and apply them academically as well. I am a hard worker academically, and teachers consistently tell my parents that they enjoy having me in their class. My math teacher this past year shared with my mother that I may go down as one of his favorite students of all time. I take my academics seriously, and plan on using some of the life lessons that I have learned in my sports to apply to the next level both academically and athletically.
After playing basketball and baseball for years, I had also decided to try my hand at wrestling in eighth grade. I worked so hard at this sport because I had to transform my body into wrestling shape which was so different than any other shape I had to be in up to that point. I was able to do that and after 3 years of wrestling, and many successes, I had a tough tenth grade season. Between the sophomore and junior year, I had to transform myself mentally which took me to another level. I worked in and out of season on both my football and wrestling skills and workouts simultaneously. I became that ,uch bigger and stronger. My junior year I competed in the District III tournament and received the Most Improved Wrestler award from the coaches. I was able to turn my record around completely, but the the mental toughness I was able to develop will help me in sports, but also in life. Challenge is welcomed, and from failure came success.
I am open minded and personable, and value relationships with coaches, teachers, and peers. I will give 100% at all times from workouts, to camps, to practice, and ultimately in game situations. I am a leader on and off the field, and will lead by example. Both of my parents are in education, both of my grandmothers were in education so this is highly valued in our home along with community service so leadership has been instilled in me throughout my upbringing. I have a strong character, and will bring positivity, intensity, and the pursuit of excellence to any team I am fortunate to be a part of at the next level. Competing at the collegiate level would fulfill a dream and help me to continue on my journey as part of something that this bigger than myself.
