Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Neal Rands and I will be entering my senior year at Ringgold High School in Monongahela, Pennsylvania this September. I have played football and baseball and competed in wrestling since the age of six, but my true passion has always been football. My two biggest athletic accomplishments so far were making second-team Big 7 all-conference (Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League, Class AAA) as a junior and finishing as the 215-pound runner-up in the 2010 WPIAL wrestling championships.
I earned football letters my sophomore and junior years on the Ringgold varsity and started last year at linebacker and long-snapper. Our team had a disappointing season but I really think the sky is the limit for us this year.
My current height and weight is 6', 205 pounds and I run a 4.61 in the 40-yard dash. I am working hard at the gym every day to get bigger and stronger without sacrificing speed and flexibility. In fact, I think I can get a little faster.
What I like most about football is the competitive and physical nature of the game. It somehow doesn't sound right to say that I like to hit people but that's how I feel. I love making a good, hard tackle on an opposing player. I also love being part of a team and working with my teammates to achieve team goals.
I've always believed that actions speak louder than words so writing this statement is a little uncomfortable for me. But the important thing you need to know is that I have a desire to compete in football at the college level and know I can do it. It's a lifelong dream that I'm determined to see come true. You are looking for players who will represent your school with class and will do everything they can to improve as students and football players. That's me!
I am very open-minded about what level of college football at which I compete. I'm keeping all my options open as far as Division I, Division II, etc, as well as what type of school at which I would play.
All I want is an opportunity to prove that I belong in college football on some level. I have a great passion for playing the game and consider myself a talented player who is focused on getting better every time I take the field. If given the chance to compete for a roster spot, I know I will maximize my potential and help the team improve.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I hope you will consider me as a possible student-athlete for your school!
