Personal Statement

Dedication, passion, commitment, leadership and being a team player are all key traits one must possess to be a successful athlete. Skill will only take a person so far, so it’s important to not only have the ability to play but embody those traits as well. As someone who started playing sports at a very young age, I’ve learned over the years how important it is to not only love the game you are playing but be committed to making myself along with my teammates better as both players and people.

Another key factor in an athlete’s success is their education. While football can become a career for some and hopefully me, it is also a way of life. Doing well in school and finding a career that I am passionate about outside of football is critical. I strive every day at school to be the best student I can be. Being on task at school and learning as much as I can has also taught me how to use intellectual thinking on the football field.

My mom has always joked that I was born with a ball in my hand. Didn’t matter the type of ball, if I saw it, I wanted it. I started my athletic career at 4 years old playing soccer, moving into travel soccer at 8 and then began playing football at 9. I love soccer and excelled at it, but I quickly found that football was my passion. I spend most of my spare time practicing football drills and watching instructional videos so I can better understand the techniques and implement them on the field.

I am blessed to have an incredible family who supports all of my dreams and aspirations to play football on a competitive level for as long as I can. One of which being my late pap who lost his battle to cancer in December of 2021. He never missed any game I ever played until he became too sick to travel. His support was a key factor in becoming the athlete I am today. He traveled with me when I went to soccer tournaments, he spent his weekends taking me to golf and hockey lessons because he saw my potential at such a young age and wanted to open as many doors as possible for me. One thing he was looking forward to was watching me play in college, he would always say “I cant wait for the day when I get to see you playing on TV.” His dedication to me over all of the years has taught me how to fight hard and dream big. I now play every snap in his honor.

Thank you for reading my personal statement, I hope this gives you a better understanding into the athlete and most important, the person I am.
