Personal Statement

My name is Jake Radziukinas. I am entering my senior year at Upper St. Clair High School this fall, and I am playing Varsity football for Coach Jim Render, the all-time second most winning coach in the State of Pennsylvania. I began playing for Coach Render as an 8th grader. He recognized my size, my talent, and my desire to excel at football. I was 5'10'' and a little under 200lbs. I was not the biggest kid on the line but I did not let that deter me. I worked hard on the field and in the weight room. As an 8th grader, I earned a starting position on the Freshman team, playing on both the offensive and defensive lines. In the off season, I continued to work hard on my strength and conditioning. I approached my freshman year with the same determination with which I had approached the prior season, and ended up as a starter on the JV team. I had grown to 5'11'', and added 15 lbs, bringing me to 215 lbs. I treated the season as if it was 12 months long, and spent every day in the weight room. As a sophomore, I started as an offensive tackle and defensive lineman on the varsity team. At the end of the season, I was awarded second team all-conference tackle in the Quad A classification. My efforts in the weight room were paying off and I grew to 6 feet tall, and 240 lbs. During my junior year, I exhibited the same desire and willingness to succeed that I have exhibited during my entire football career. I started the season at 6'1", 270 lbs and again started on the offensive and defensive lines. Our team finished second in our conference and made it to the second round of the WPIAL playoffs. I was awarded first team all-conference tackle in the Quad A classification. I am currently 17 years old, 6'2'', 275 lbs, and I am still growing. I bench press 345lbs, and squat 445lbs. I am looking to better myself and my team and will continue to do everything in my power to get stronger, faster and become a better player. I am a very solid student. I have a strong desire to play football in college, but my first priority is to go to a college where I can receive an outstanding education, and contribute to my community, while being a part of the great game of football. I will work hard, commit myself to the team and do my best to succeed, in the classroom, on the field, and in my life.
