I have always considered myself an athlete. Since the age of five, I have participated in various sports; including football, baseball, swimming, track and car racing. When I moved from club level sports to high school level sports, my focus changed from participating in many sports to specializing in football. It was then that I, along with my parents and coaches, put a multi-year plan in place that addressed my size, skills and agility.
The plan combined weight training, calorie management, speed and agility exercises, and skills refinement. Additionally, to maintain my speed and agility progress in the off season, I joined the track team. By remaining dedicated to this plan, I have added seventy pounds of muscle. This allowed me to compete at a varsity level for the last three years and earn the position of team captain this year. Additionally, it has afforded me with the skillsets to become a more diverse athlete: able to play as a center, long snapper, defense tackle and offensive tackle.
This approach taught me the importance of a thoughtful and balanced plan, and that with focus and dedication great things can be achieved. Using this same approach, I am in the top of my class and aspire to pursue a career as a Chemical Engineer.
I am looking for a program that rewards hard work and loyalty and is a good fit for my high athletic and academic pursuits. I believe that I have the talent to compete for a college team, and have the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate positive impact on your program.
