Personal Statement
I plan to attend college to become a pharmacist. My mother owns her own independent pharmacy and I would like to come back and work in my home community, giving back, and either work with her or for her and eventually buy the pharmacy. I would love to be able to play football while attending college.
I like to consider myself to be one that perseveres. I had a motorcycle accident a few years ago, breaking several bones, I lay for 8 weeks, fully dependent on the help of my family and friends, had to have rehab to walk again, and watched as things happened around me that I could not do. When I was able to go in the wheelchair my mom took me to every single high school football game, home and away, just to get me out of the house and around other people. I fell in love with the sport, though I had never played it, and that became my new goal.
I had to transfer from the small, private Christian School that I loved to a local public school that played football. Though it was different, it was a good change and a learning experience. Every day that I get to work out, practice or play, I love football that much more. I learned to love it from being in the stands, watching the team from the bleachers and hearing the fans, but there is nothing like the feeling of actually playing in a game. I persevered, and I believe that is what makes me a good candidate.
I am loyal to my team mates, try to be inspiring (especially to those younger than myself), keep an open mind and make decisions, prayerfully. I like to look at a glass of water as being 3/3 full! When I think of the definition of character, I was always taught that your true character is determined by who you are when no one is watching, and I try to always be the best person I can, in a crowd or alone. My grades have always mattered to me, and I strive for academic excellence.
