Personal Statement
My name is Joey Caldwell and I am a senior at Dresden High School. Continuing my football career at the college level would be a dream come true and I fully understand the commitment and hard work that lies ahead of me to make this dream happen. My personal dedication is not only on the football field or in the weight room, but also in the classroom and in my community. I am a firm believer in a quote I've heard time and time again: "Ability is what you are capable of doing, motivation determines what you do and attitude determines how well you do it." Currently I have a 3.85 GPA and just scored an 22 on the ACT. I will be taking the ACT again in July 2013. Community involvement includes teaching grade school athletes during our Dresden High School football camp, working at the Weakley County Courthouse in the county clerk’s office cleaning and filing paperwork. Probably the most meaningful community involvement project I’ve been involved with is Santa’s Helpers, which helps to collect Christmas gifts for underprivileged children in our area. Our football team has been to the semi finals and the state championship game the last two years. I've started at middle linebacker on both of these teams. This year I lead the team in tackles, receptions and second in rushing yards. I was selected as Defensive Player of the Year for our team, all District Team and all West Tennessee Team.
