Personal Statement
I have been playing football since I was five years old. Those first few years were so much fun learning the game and what to do in each position. I began breaking down film with my father when I was 7 years old. We would look at the things I did well, and spend the rest of the time analyzing how I could become better. At age 8, I realized how much I loved this sport and began to dream about playing at the collegiate level. Growing up in a family where education is a priority, I’ve always known that I would be going to college. However, the thought of continuing to suit up after high school and to be able to play the sport I am so passionate about, while I increase my knowledge through a college education, seemed like a win-win!
I am always working to improve my skills, as well as, training to get bigger, faster and stronger. I play 2 varsity sports - football and basketball, so conditioning pretty much takes care of itself. I weight train at least 5 times a week to try and keep my bulk up. I am a team leader and try to lead by example both on and off the field, while encouraging my teammates to be the very best they can. After all, a team is made up of 11 players, and all 11 on the field need to be at their absolute best to have success. I feel as if I am very coach-able, and I strive to be one of the hardest working players on the team.
Again, education is a priority in my family, so in the classroom, I study hard and am currently maintaining a 3.71 GPA. I push myself by taking Honors and AP classes. I also volunteer at local youth camps and with our little league program in Gatlinburg.
I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the football field. Though I am open to all options, competition has been a driving force for me as far back as I can remember. Therefore, I want to find the right college match, at the highest level of competition possible. My hope is to become a great role model to all my peers and to make my family and community proud.
