Even though I have been on varsity all 4 years at Hixson, for the last 2 years I have been the only kicker with no backup. And I have worked hard on my skills. I do all of the kicking. When you watch my highlight video, you will see that I can put a kickoff anywhere I need to. My coach didn't always want it deep, so he would tell me which opposing player to kick it to and that's where I would put it. It is a skill that I have worked hard on and I think I am really good at it. I also enjoy punting. I am averaging 40 yards on my punts. Again, in my video you will see that the snaps weren't always the best, but I pride myself in not caving under pressure and still being able to get the kick off. Right now, I hold the school record for the longest field goal. I kicked a 51 yard field goal during one of our games.
Another factor to consider is my love for the game of soccer. I have played soccer since I was 5. When I was getting ready to start 6th grade, I began training with Luke Winter who played semi-professional for the Chattanooga Football Club in Chattanooga. What started as personal training to build confidence for middle school soccer, ended up leading to nearly 3 years of personal training with him to develop my skills. I not only made the middle school team in 6th grade but was the only 6th grade starter. During the course of my 3 years in middle school, I played every position on the field, including goalie my 8th grade year. I have been part of the varsity high school team all 4 years and take pride in the fact that I work hard and this year, I am leading my team in the defense as a left center back. I am a big body in the back that has great foot work and can help my team get the ball out of the box. I have also secured a game winning goal this year in a district game.
What I feel sets me apart from others you may be looking at is, I am quiet and I am willing to learn. I don't feel that I know it all. I feel that I still have things to learn to sharpen my skills in both football and soccer. I work hard on my playing skills for both sports and I take pride in that. I am not a straight A student, and that's alright with me. I think with the skills I have in my athletics and the work I do in my studies, I am a well rounded-student that would be a great fit for your team.
