Personal Statement

There are few better feelings than being a contributing member of a football team, no matter the level. Longsnapping has allowed me to do just that. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who takes the game and his position more seriously than I do. I am somewhat of a late bloomer physically (currently 6'1", 215 lbs) and had not been a consistent starter in the offensive or defensive lineup.
I began developing the physical skills needed for a longsnapper at the end of my freshman year. My progress since that time as been steady, although it was not until this year that I was consistently able to master the mental aspect of lonsnapping. Snapping to my punter who is standing in the end zone in bad weather in a tight game requires a degree of confidence and control that I now possess. I take pride in being reliable, especially during our run to the 2009 Tennessee State finals. One of my goals is to allow you the coach, to focus your efforts elsewhere, knowing that "Giampapa has the longsnapping covered". I don't accept the fact that I have not been a consistent starter on the line as a negative. It forced me to assess how I could be a contributor and work torwards the goal of helping our team. I am also fortunate to have the influence of an accomplished Mom and Dad who understand that commitment and hard work are not only essential, but fulfilling. My Mom and Dad have always been there for me and continue to be my biggest supporters. After the snap, you'll see me run as hard as I can to make a play on the returner.
I work on my snapping with Chris Rubio of Chris Sailer Kicking. I am currently ranked 17th in the nation with a rating of 4.5 stars. I am currently working hard to achieve a 5 star ranking. However, he and I fully expect me to move up in the rankings. I was recently invited to the Top 12 and EVENT ELITE camp for long snappers which is exclusive the best longsnappers in the country. I am open to attending any size college or university and am interested in hearing from any school who thinks I might be a good fit for them.
Will I be able to make a living at longsnapping? Though I have dreamed of becoming of longsnapper in the NFL, my reality is that if I work hard on my studies, in practice and the weightroom, all that other stuff will out for the best, whatever form that takes. If I am fortunate enough to have a college sign me, rest assured that you will never have to correct me on my work ethic.
