Personal Statement
I have had the privilege of being a four year starter for Richland High School’s Varsity Football Team. My junior year taught me a great deal about myself and my determination for being an athlete and more importantly a leader on my team. I was injured during a scrimmage game at the beginning of my junior season, which resulted in a torn patella tendon. I was determined to not let my coaches or teammates down; therefore, I played all season with this injury. I helped lead my team to their first appearance in the Tennessee State playoffs in twenty-two years with a 6-4 record. This was the best record my high school team had achieved in twenty-two years. Working through this injury taught me the importance of perseverance and resolve, both on and off the field.
My goal is to explore an engineering major that will position me to further my education with a master’s degree in engineering. On the field, I strive to be a positive influence and a vital player on the team. As I continue to grow both physically and mentally throughout my high school and college football career, I will work to be an asset to any football program. Most importantly, I will conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the field, knowing that my actions and the way I carry myself will reflect on my team, my coaches and the school that I attend.
