Max Holtzclaw '24 Recruiting Profile

I am a highly motivated and focused senior student athlete at Ensworth School in Nashville, TN. I was previously at Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, TN, for my Fr, So, and Jr years. I did not compete my Jr season due to a fractured clavicle. Allowing for ample time to heal, I am once again at 100%. It is my goal to maintain my JHS GPA of 4.0, and develop into a competitive collegiate QB.  I am a hold-back student, having repeated the 8th grade in Laguna Beach, CA, where I grew up.  I did not repeat 8th grade because of poor grades, but rather to allow myself to mature and grow both physically and mentally and my parents were kind enough to allow me the opportunity to do so. This was also during Covid so my timing was perfect. As a result of this extra year of development, I consider myself not only to be a team player, but now a more mature team leader on the field.  I have worked with top SoCal QB coaches since I was 7 years old, beginning with Steve Calhoun at Armed and Dangerous, through Nate Longshore at AllQBs. When I had the chance to meet Drew Bledsoe, he told me to make sure "you have great feet" and that stuck with me. So while working with QB coaches, I also worked hard on my speed and agility skills with Coach John Walker at Faster Performance in Laguna Niguel. I now run a 4.5 40. I believe the combination of great footwork and disciplined throwing mechanics will make me a very competitive QB at the highest collegiate levels.  Finally, I believe that Ensworth will help me in the areas I consider most important for success: Academics, Athletics, and upstanding Character. Besides being a top-level QB, I plan to study computer science and patent law in college. I am an American citizen with a Mexican mom and an American/Caucasian dad.
