Personal Statement

Hello! My name is Garrett Adams and this year I am a Senior at Sevier County High School. As a Junior last season I was  named Region 2-5 A Region Team with my ending season stats at 97 tackles (58 solo), 14 tackles for loss. 4.5 sacks and 1 fumble recovery. I am very determined on and off the football field. I have set my mind and body to the fact that I will go to college and I will play football no matter what it takes to get me there I am willing to do it. I am very interested in a career in business, marketing and maybe intro to banking. I am a very driven individual when it comes to academics and athletics.  I have played football since I was 4 years old and yes I know there is a huge difference in little league football and high school football, but when you are always the youngest player on the team I have learned to step up and show the coaches what I am capable of doing and the one thing I have to say has contributed to my growth in football is my ability to recognize my faults and what areas I need to work on as well as being coach able.  As one of the youngest freshmen players on the team my freshmen season I lettered as a Varsity Player and was awarded the MVP player of the freshmen/JV team.  My freshmen year I was given the honor of being able to play a little in the state game our team made it to in Cookville TN. As I have grown in my knowledge of the plays and the dedication that is required. I have had the opportunity this season  to play several positions as a starter on Varsity. I am always looking for more ways to absorb more knowledge to learn something that perhaps I didn't know yesterday.  I understand that hard work, dedication and being able to not only take criticism, but also learn from it and be able to use it improve yourself in all aspects of life are key to success. This season I have played WR, OLB, Quarter Back and Running Back. I feel its important to be able to learn multiple positions and plays, so you are able to step in when needed.

This season as a Senior I was asked to play back up quarter back. Now you can surely understand my initial fear of not being "good enough", but about our 2nd game of this season our quarterback was injured during the game and I had to step in that role. I overcome my fear and put all of that strength in learning the plays and perfecting them. The next game I was quarterback the entire game and I am proud to say we won that game. No matter what position I am asked to step in to I will give it 110%.

My determination will not be stopped and I will continue to grow academically, in my community service and as an athlete. As we grow during my Senior year, I am very excited to see what my future will hold in regards to my college career and the ability to play football at the college level.
