Personal Statement

My name is Landon Foster, and I am a 6'2" punter/kicker from Franklin, TN where I am attending Independence High School of Thompson's Station, TN. I am in my junior year (fall 2010) and I will graduate in the class of 2012. I have done, and will continue to do everything possible to become the best kicker/punter combo in the class of 2012. As a sophomore last year, I earned starting positions on the varsity football team as both the punter and kicker and performed all punting/kicking duties for the team for the entire duration of the season. I had a 30% touchback rate on kickoffs, went 7/10 on field goals, and had 5 punts inside the 5 yard line with no touchbacks. During the 2010 summer, I traveled to several camps including the Vanderbilt Camp where I was Co-Champion of Field Goals w/ a strained right quad. After my performance in the FBU camp, I was invited to the "Top Gun" Camp. Lastly, I attended the Chris Sailer GA Camp where I was the Long Distance FG Winner, Punting Finalist, GA camp overall finalist, and I am ranked 8th by Chris Sailer in 2012 class (as of 8/17/10). This year as a junior, I led the team in scoring during our 4-6 season. My punting for my junior year included 13 punts inside the 20 with a 40.1 yard average. My average kickoff sailed just over 64.1 yards. Lastly, I hit 10/13 of my field goals this season, and I was 100% inside 45. I was selected to the All-District Team (in a district known for its kickers) and received the Kicker of the Year award. Not only do I strive for the best in between the lines, but I also push myself to achieve my personal best in the classroom as well. I have always been a straight A student, and currently have over a 4.1 GPA. When I took the ACT in seventh grade through the Duke TIP program, I earned a score of 21, and after taking the PLAN test during my sophomore year last year, my test results predict that I will score between a 29-33 on the formal ACT. I would love to go to any school around the nation that has the combination of excellence in both academics and athletics. I would be open to any possibilities to determine if I could possibly be a good fit for the team and if the college would be where I would want to make life-long memories.
