Personal Statement

My name is Jake Bumguardner, I am a senior at Albany High School in Texas. I am 6 foot and weigh 170. I run a 4.4 and have break away speed. I have just completed my 3 year on Varsity. I have been on our Varsity Team since I was a sophomore, starting as a wide receiver then was moved to quarterback when our starter got injured the second game of the year. I lead our team as a sophomore to an undefeated regular season and the State Quarterfinal. I was named to the All State Team as a kicker. In addition to football I was able to qualify for the State Track Meet in the 400 Meter placing 2nd with a 49.76 time.

My Junior year I lead my team to another undefeated regular season and State Regional Semi-Finals. I was able to bring a balanced attack to our offense with 1,335 yards of passing and 1,407 yards rushing with 18 passing TDs and 18 rushing TDs. In addition, I played Safety and Punter Returning as well as handling the kick off duties and extra points and field goals. While our team seldom attempted field goals my longest is 41 yards. I was named to the All State Team as a Quarterback and Kicker. In addition I qualified for the State Track Meet for a 2nd year in the 400 meters placing 2nd with a time of 49.28. I also qualified for the State Meet in the 100 meter and currently I am ranked in the top ten fastest times in the State of Texas (all classifications) for the 100 meter for the Class of 2013 with personal best time of 10.61.

My Senior season I lead our team to the State Quarterfinals again with a record of 11-2. I rushed for over 2,000 yards (12 yd avg.) with 27 rushing touchdowns, 1,000 yards passisng with 9 passing tds, 1 receiving td and 3 punt returns for touchdowns as well as 82/91 PATs. On defense I had 6 interceptions. I have been named Abilene Reporter News Player of the week, KXTS player of the week and Ford Built Tough Player of the Week (1A) by Fox Southwest (week 10). District 7-A2 MVP Selection.

I believe I would bring great leadership to any team I play for and I will always work as hard as possible. I have always given everything I have to every game. I have loved football since I was born and I grew up playing with my family. I would cherish the chance to play football at the next level. My ability to run the option and zone read schemes as well as play from under center is my strength as well as my work ethic, leadership qualities and desire to be the best.

In High School I have been involved in FFA, FCA, Church Youth Group, National Honor Society and Honor Roll maintaining a 3.71 GPA in Honor Classes. My faith is very important to me and plays an important role in my life. I also participate in basketball, track, baseball, and golf. Sports are a big part of my life but football has always been my favorite. MY goal is to play football at the college level as Receiver or possibly as Quarterback or Defensive Back and or Kicker.

Thank you for your consideration and I hope to hear from you.

Jake Bumguardner
