Personal Statement
I was 7 years old when my desire to play football developed into a love for the game. For six years, I experienced extreme victories and heart-wrenching defeat. But I learned what it took to be a great football player. As a young, and small, quarterback I was fearless. I embraced the leadership role and quickly developed effective communication skills, as well as adapted to my position as defensive end. After transferring from a non-ranked football program to a top-10 state championship program at the end of Junior High School, I faced many setbacks. However, I quickly realized in order to be MY best I had to learn and play with THE best. I am a dedicated student-athlete. I thrive on hard work and challenges, and I learned that dedication, patience, and persistence are key factors to achieve success. Because of my coaches and family support, I am resilient in the face of obstacles. I am able to adapt to changes while remaining focused on my goals. Each day, I strive to be stronger mentally and physically than I was the day before. It’s also important to me to establish trust and loyalty with my coaches and teammates because I understand the value of teamwork. I am driven by using what I have been taught to proactively show others how to succeed, whether it be in the classroom, on the field, or in my community.
As a student-athlete, my college goals and aspirations are to play college football while I receive a quality education that will assist in my efforts to pursue a degree in Kinesiology. I am striving for an academic and/or athletic scholarship. My desire to learn never ends. I have the grit and stamina to prosper, and I am confident in my abilities to display consistency and longevity. I have what it takes to help strengthen a team’s momentum and the work-ethic to be a positive impact on a college program.
