My name is Grant Collins. I am 18 years old and live in Devine, Texas. There are two things I'm extremely passionate about. From my earliest remembrance, I have always had tremendous love for our country and the freedom it represents and for the greatest sport ever, football.
My grandfather was a glider pilot in World War II and he was the most faithful Dallas Cowboys fan. Even though he died when I was 7, his life continues to impact me daily. I want to serve my country selflessly like those young men did during WWII. Since my early childhood, I have been unwavering in my desire to serve my country as an officer in the United States Marine Corp. and to play football as long as God will allow.
I love running the ball but have versatility and strengths which can be an asset in multiple positions on offense, defense and special teams.
Perhaps my greatest strength can be seen in never giving up and overcoming obstacles I have faced, and always being coachable! I don’t take criticism personally but apply it to become a better athlete.
I believe having adversity in your life can help you grow and learn perseverance or make you live your life with excuses. I choose to persevere!
Today, I'm thankful for the athletic ability that God has given me but I don't take it for granted. My greatest assets are my speed, toughness and determination. It's going to take more than one guy to stop me when I'm running the ball. I'm a versatile athlete with a strong powerful kicking leg, as well.
I am currently training to increase speed, power and strength to be a viable candidate as a collegiate running back. I'm also attending reputable kicking camps to develop my skills in kicking.
My dream is to serve my country and play football to the best of my ability. The extra hard work and sacrifice is worth getting that shot.
