When I was 8 years old attending the local Boys and Girls Club they offered pee wee football, I wanted to play so I had my mom sign me up. It wasn't long that I realized that for my size I didn't quit measure up. That's the first time I played, being one of the smaller kids on the 9-10 year old team was challenging. It wasn't until I was 12 that I felt the draw to play because my dad and uncle would tell stories of playing football and how much fun it was. I have been playing quarterback since the 7th grade. My freshman year my buddies and I would ride our bicycles to practice because we didn't have a ride. Sometimes I wanted to quit because I didn't think it was worth it. But I kept playing because I liked it and I was hanging with my friends. My size still was a factor but freshman year we ended up combing the freshman with the JV and I ended up being the starting quarterback for JV. My parents have always told me that being the quarterback comes with a lot of responsibilities. I have to keep the team together and focused. If I keep a positive attitude then my team will follow my lead.
