Personal Statement

Hello coach:

I am a 6’0” 152lb Kicker/Punter at Central High School in Keller, Texas. I have primarily been utilized as a place kicker although in the past year, I have been utilized as a punter as well. Over the course of my career, my coaches have needed me to become proficient in various specialty kicks such as pooch, onside, deep, squib, punch, chips, and thunder n’ heard. This has given me a very diverse kicking portfolio. I believe my ability to perform various types of kick and the fact that I place kick and punt is one of my greatest assets to my team. I currently serve as a member of our Athletic Leadership Counsel, have a 3.5 GPA, participate in our Green Cord Volunteer program and I am very active in my church youth group and mission trips. Additionally, I played recreational, club and school soccer from the time I was in elementary school.

I am no stranger to hard work.  I have had to work hard in my school career, overcoming challenges like dyslexia and ADD while juggling multiple sports, training schedules and other extra-curricular activities. I believe this is primarily due to my parents instilling a strong work ethic and a sense of giving back to others.  Our family has always been active in church and volunteer activities and my dad even serves on our local school board. Through these experiences, I have learned you need to work hard to get where you want to go and to help others along the way. My love of helping others is one reason I want to become a Physical Therapist or Physician’s Assistant. I know that becoming a PA or PT will require 6-8 years of schooling and so it is my goal to secure athletic and academic scholarships to lessen the financial burden on my parents and myself after I graduate.

In looking at various programs, it is very important to me to play as early as possible and be at a school where I am a valued part of the team. I love playing football and the comradery with my teammates and hope to be able to continue playing the sport I love while obtaining a great education that will provide the foundation I need to launch a successful career.
