Jack Byse '21 Recruiting Profile

I realized at the age of 6 that football was going to be a passion that would continue to drive me through life. My entire family played soccer so I joined football as a way to set myself apart from my siblings, and chase a dream that no one else in my family has. As a freshman, I received the DPOTY award as an LB, while leading in sacks and tackles. The following year, I moved to a school right before their first year of varsity football. There I was placed at offensive tackle, a position I had never played. I was challenged physically and mentally to adapt to the new style of play. That season, we had a humbling record of 0-10, and while many will see that season as a failure, I see it as an opportunity to push myself, and lead others. 

I have discovered that my drive is not determined by my surroundings, but by my will to become the greatest student athlete I can be. I lead others through dedication, work ethic, and commitment to my teammates, as well as my program. I now understand the importance of being a student athlete, an there is nothing I won't do to play football for these next 4 years.
