My name is Joseph Mosbey, Class of 2020. I have been competing in Varsity Football and Track & Field since my Freshmen year. I enjoy working hard in both the classroom and on the field. I am always thinking about how to improve my skills by paying attention to details during my training and studies to be successful. So, I ask my coaches for extra reps because I want to be the best at my position/events. I was one of a few freshmen to play on the varsity football team that went undefeated and won the State Title in 2016. One of my dreams is to play at the next level. I strongly believe in teamwork, so I commit my personal time to helping my teammates however they need me (sometimes with school work or working on our athletic skills). Growing up with a special-need older brother as well as living with other siblings who competed in collegiate sports and who went on to play in the NFL, helps me to appreciate the importance of be in the right university/college with the right coaches and supportive staff. Currently, I am a CB/S/SS starter at Houston Christian Varsity Football team. I am working hard to best serve my team. In track, I am a sprinter, a long and triple jumper. I believe I will make an immediate impact and positively contribute to my collegiate team. My goal is to find a university with a strong academic program in engineering or related fields so that I can completely be equipped with the necessary career skills when I graduate. My GPA is 4.0. I exceeded both state and national averages on my SAT/ACT scores. I earned the National Merit Recommendation on both tests. I plan to take both tests again to improve my scores. Also, I participate in many leadership, mentorship and extra curricula activities, such as National Honor Society, Discipleship Group etc. I volunteer at my church. Overall, my hope is to be the best that God created me to be. I want to make a positive difference to the lives of my friends and family.
