Personal Statement
I have loved playing football ever since I can remember. It didn’t even matter what position, I loved every aspect of the game. I also learned from a young age that playing any sport was not possible, if I didn’t maintain good grades. So I strived for excellence in both areas. As far as football, I worked hard, even as a little kid, I tried to be the fastest, the toughest and the strongest. And now I look back at recordings, seeing myself dragging little kids, while I’m running in a touchdown. I didn’t realize then, how determined I was, but looking back at it now, it kind of serves as an inspiration for me to keep it going, how could I be more driven as a little kid, than I am now, as a teenager? I can’t! So I still strive to be one of the fastest, strongest and toughest player’s on the field. Someone who is better than me on the field, is only motivation for me to get better. As far as education, it was sort of the same motivation. I wanted to be one of the smartest kids in the class. I remember when I was in the 1st grade; I received the “Eager Eagle Award”. This was given to the kid with the best conduct and highest averages in the class. And I did it. This was extreme motivation for me, because it let me know that I can be just that, “The Best” on the field, as well as off the field. On top of that, my parents didn’t expect anything less from me. So education has always been very important to me. Even now, in High school, I try to take AP courses in whatever I can take it in. It’s so funny, because I can’t even see what the difference would be in regular classes, because I am so use to AP courses, it seems normal. The first time I really failed academically, was when I first took college courses. I feel upset, because I know that I could do the work, but in a sense I felt intimidated by the label on the class, “college”, as well as the students and the professor. But I am refocused and prepared to take the courses and strive for excellence. I know that I have to in order to fulfill my goals. In 4 to 7 years from now, I want to be playing college football and earning a Civil Engineering degree. I also want to win a BCS National Championship. In addition, like most college football players, I want to get drafted into the NFL. To get myself there, I keep my body healthy and work hard in football, basketball and track. To make sure I get into a college I keep my grades up. I always try to do the right thing because I know integrity is important. It’s not just about what everyone else sees, it’s about the person I know that I am inside and out.
