I have been playing football since I was in the second grade. Ever since then I have been in love with the game. Living in a small town the people here live for Friday night lights. I remember going to the games watching the excitement in the stands, on the field and the passion for the game that the players had. I could not wait for the day I got to go on that field as a varsity football player. I have had a lot of ups and downs and the road to varsity football was tough. I had some set backs due to injuries but in a way I feel like those setbacks made me stronger as a person and as a player. No matter if I was playing on the JV team or the varsity team I was giving it my all.
Football is not just a game to me, its more. It has helped me throughout high school. Being a football player in high school meant we were always held to a higher standard. Which meant I had to be a leader on and off the field. Doing the right thing when out side of school because I represented the name on my back and the name on my chest.
A memory I will never forget is when I was very sick and my teammates wanted me to still come to school so that I would be able to play that night against one of our biggest rivals. The whole day I felt terrible and my teammates kept checking on me all day asking if I needed anything. When we went into the locker room for roll call my coach gave us a speech and then called me out and said " Josh is there anything that's gonna keep you from going out on that field tonight and playing your heart out?" I answered back loud "No sir!!" and the team went crazy. They knew that I was also going to have their back and I was going to play my heart out for them and they would do the same for me. Memories like that are the ones I am going to cherish forever.
I would love to be given the opportunity to play football in college while earning a degree in business management. I want to take my love for the game to next level.
