Matthew Merritt '20 Recruiting Profile

A few years ago, the high school football team went and played in the state championship. After the state runner up class graduated our football program took a severe hit. A year later I moved up from junior high football and was thrusted into a 2-8  varsity season. Sophomore year, we scrapped by 5-6. Completing my junior year, we grew as a family and leaned on each other the entire season advancing to the state semi finals. 

The past few years were one of the most challenging in my high school career as a team we faced many adversities. Saying that, I’ve learned the values of determination and teamwork through winning and losing. I’m looking for a program that will challenge me not just athletically but academically. I would like to succeed on and off the field with my teammates, work ethics, and character. While I might not be the strongest or the fastest player on the field, I will pour everything I am into the program and be a valuable asset.
