Personal Statement
I have been interested in football from a young age due to my family loving sports. I was a leader of the offensive and defensive line varsity football team in my freshman season. I can pick those around me up and I feel I bring a die-hard attitude to the field, while also being the spark for my teammates. Getting to compete on the field with my friends and have fun doing it is what draws me to football. I hope to pursue football into college, and make new friends, and keep playing the game I love.
Playing football for the past three years has opened my eyes to multiple things as a student-athlete. As an athlete, I learned how having fellowship with your teammates around you, and how communication on the field are both valuable. When you have a good relationship with your teammates, and you see eye to eye with them, I have come to notice it is much easier communicating with them during the action. Whether it be making calls or correcting each other on the fly, it has always been easier. As my first season wound down, we were away playing our rivals across town, and some of my teammates had to sit during the game due to academic or disciplinary issues. Being a student-athlete I saw first-hand how important it is to handle your business off the field, and how those issues can affect you on the field. When I saw my friends having to sit out our rivalry game, I made a pact with myself to never be that guy having to sit and watch while my brothers battled without me. While I still have much to learn and much to work on concerning my athletic abilities, I also have an assortment of skills to bring to a team willing to bring me aboard.
