Playing football in high school, was a passion that tested me every day.
I battled numerous obstacles; from injuries, to Position Battles, to family trauma. After my father suffered a heart attack, and I transferred to JJ Pearce High School, I knew it would be a battle from the get-go. I went from having equally split time at an elite private school, destined to take over the reins my senior year and lead the team to another Championship game, to the bottom of the barrel at a brand new school. I battled day in, and day out through the off season, settling with the JV team to finish out the season due to transfer rules.
The battle for the starting job came down to three of us, neck to neck, throughout the entire Winter and Spring practices. After getting hurt pretty bad in a Spring Scrimmage, I quite frankly, lost my drive. I was taken out of competition, and sat out my senior year.
My dreams of football were gone in the blink of an eye. My passion, everything I fought for was gone.
Being a freshman at UT Dallas, studying criminal justice , the fire has reignited. I have dropped over 50 pounds from my playing weight to be a much better athlete. The cliche is true. I just need one chance, and I promise you, you will not regret it.
