TEXAS KICKER, SPECIAL TEAMS MVP for 2023, TEXAS ALL-STAR SENIOR GAME, 2023 1st TEAM ALL-DISTRICT, ALL-STATE HONORABLE MENTION, 2023 ACADEMIC ALL-STATE, AND CAPTAIN: Class of 2024, GPA 3.71
My name is Nick Canepa and I am in my Senior year at Round Rock Christian Academy in Round Rock, Texas with a 3.71 GPA. My goal and aspiration is to play football at the collegiate level as a kicker, playing for a school and team I am passionate about.
I am the starting Varsity Kicker and Captain for Round Rock Christian Academy (RRCA). I have been on the Varsity squad since my freshman year and have been the team-elected Captain for 2 years by my teammates. We are in the TAPPS Conference, so we play 6-man football. Although I am on special teams as the kicker, I play every down, both offense and defense. I am proud of what we have accomplished over these last four years. We went to the playoffs with a winning season for the first time in 10 years.
I am a multi-sport athlete with 12 years of select soccer behind me (I played in Europe twice, in Barcelona, Spain, and the UK). My athletic abilities give me the stamina and strength to play football. Soccer was my sport for a long time. That all changed once I stepped onto the football field 4 years ago. Football is now my top sport and where all my training is geared, so I can have a chance to play at the college level.
Both my parents have always been athletes, so I grew up in and around sports. Off the field, I enjoy playing golf, basketball, dirk bike riding, and cycling with my uncle. I completed the Mamma Jamma Ride in September this year with my uncle and the Lone Star Circle of Care Team to support breast cancer, riding 15 miles.
My mom was a Division I college athlete. We have talked about "what it takes" to play a college sport; the 4-year commitment to your school, your team, your sport, and your academics. I am willing to work that hard and prove myself.
My school is a Christian school and my faith is important to me. I try my best to lead by example. I have been told by several coaches that my coachability factor, my technical abilities, and my reserved demeanor are my strengths.
For the 2022 season, I recently received All District HM, for both Kicker and Defensive Back, along with Special Teams Player of the Year for my school. I was again chosen as Captain for this 2023-2024 Varsity Season.
2023 District Awards: 1st Team Kicker, 1st Team Tight End, 1st Team Linebacker, 2nd Team Punter, and I was chosen as the starting kicker for the South Team at the Senior Bowl All-Star Game in Dallas, Texas on December 9, 2023.
