My name is Malachi Edmonds. I am a senior at Vernon High school in Vernon, Texas. We are a North Texas town with a population of about 10,000. Three of the most important things in my life are God, family and football.
I grew up in a very close family with six brothers and sisters more aunts, uncles and cousins than you would want to count. Every Sunday our family gathers at my grandparents house for Sunday dinner. The significance of that is the fact that it was this closeness in my family that taught me some of my most important values, those are loyalty, strength for the people who depend on you, and how to fight for your place at the dinner table.
I am blessed to have the background I have today. It taught me to work hard for what I want, and that failure is just a learning opportunity. I learned that it is great to dream big and to enjoy the journey to get there. I look forward for a chance to learn and grow at my future school. I look forward to a chance to make my family proud and to make something of myself so that I can be there for them even more so later on down the road not just when times are low but also when times are at the best.
