Personal Statement
I started playing football only 4 years ago and have improved dramatically every year. Three years ago I started working out with a former NFL wide receiver, Darnerian McCants, and have continued training with him. Coach McCants has dramatically increased my receiver skills and stresses key fundamentals including proper blocking technique, knowledge of route running and how to read defenses.
I am currently a Junior and am playing on 3 varsity teams - football, wrestling and track. My passion is football. I played on the freshman team at Briar Woods H.S., a very successful football program that had won 3 straight State Championships at the time. When our town built a new high school, Rock Ridge H.S., I was given the option of petitioning to stay at Briar Woods or going to the new school. I elected to go to the new school to help build an athletic program and be a leader in the school and on the athletic fields. I had not lost a football game in 2 years. At Rock Ridge I started on offense (wide receiver and tight end), defense (outside linebacker) and special teams. We experienced some loses but also gave the school its first wins as well. Most importantly we came together as a team. I am a team player who truly believes that TEAM stands for "Together Everyone Achieves More".
I am a very hard worker and take football very seriously. I lift weights at least 4 times a week before school starts and then participate in my sport after school (be it football, wrestling or track season). On the weekends I train with Coach McCants and throw with the Rock Ridge QBs and receivers.
As a member of your team you will never have to question my work ethic or dedication to the team.
