Personal Statement
Living the High School/Football Life
As I look forward to these next 4 years I will think of my time in high school as a game of football.
Freshman/First Quarter
Everything is new and unknown. As I begin my freshman year of high school I realize things are much different now. Like the first quarter of a football game. There is the great unknown. I am learning the way things need to be done in high school. I realize I must make the commitment to study hard and strive for excellence in the classroom. As with the first quarter: I am beginning to learn the strength of my opponent. I must find a way to use my skill and technique to be successful
Sophomore/ Second Quarter
I have a firm grasp on what is expected of me in the classroom. I have made the commitment to study and strive for those grades. I am ready to challenge myself and have a strong idea of what goals are. In the second quarter of that football game I have settled into the rhythm of the game. I have seen my opponents best. My technique is better than his and I will enforce my will. He will not get past me. He will not shed my blocks.
Junior/ Third Quarter
I have done my homework. I have made the grades I know I am capable of making. As I peek ahead as to what life holds for me I know I am the right track. I am putting myself in the best position to achieve my educational goals. On the field I have shown my opponent, he will not beat me…not this day. He grows frustrated because he cannot beat me. I can sense that he has accepted the fact that on this night he will not prevail.
Senior/ Fourth Quarter
My grades are right where they need to be. I am in the middle of picking the right college. They have my field of study, they have the atmosphere I am looking for. That college will be the platform for the rest of my life. I will choose carefully as I know I must fit there as well as that school must be the right fit for me and my goals. On the field the game is coming to a close. I have used my skills and techniques. I have shown my best and he has accepted the facts. I have outworked him, I have out hustled him. As the game draws to an end my strength and conditioning have outlasted his.
I look forward to these formidable years in my life. I have set my goals. I have committed to reaching them. The next 4 years will go by in a blur but I am comforted in the fact that with the support of my family and friends there is nothing I can’t achieve. I will be ready for the next chapter in my life….and that next game.
