Jestdon McKenzie '20 Recruiting Profile

    Greetings!  My name is Jestdon McKenzie and I come from the Commonwealth of Virginia.  I am a big brother, a CPR certified babysitter, an active team player and contributor to any group effort that I am a part of, a tutor, a loyal friend and a responsible and loving son.  My hobbies include reading novels, listening to music, exercising and, my most favorite, playing and watching the great game of football.

In life, I am always striving to be better, and that is what lifts me above other players of this game.   I have been playing piano since the age 5, reading since the age of 4, playing the French Horn since the age of 11 and a boxing enthusiast and trainee since the age of 10.  On and off the field, I have learned that no one else other than me can push me to be great.  I am my biggest critic, but I am also my biggest fan so while I enjoy each milestone that I hit and each accomplishment that I have made, I know that this is just the beginning and I have to keep endeavoring to establish my personal brand and to make a name for myself.  This is what sets me apart from all others.

I am currently a rising 9^th grader (formerly an International Baccalaureate student in middle school) headed to the one and only Highland Springs High School.  Known for its highly rated Advanced College Academy in Business and other specialty programs, it is also known throughout the state for its recently revamped high school football program which has proven its worth after winning the 5A State Championship this past school year. 

My goals for the next few years are as follows: 

• To have received academic and athletic scholarships
• To maintain a GPA of no less than 3.5 for my entire high school career
• To graduate from the ACA school of business with an Associate’s Degree from J. Sergeant Reynolds prior to earning my advanced diploma from Highland Springs High School
• To gain more confidence on and off the field, focusing on fierceness and determination during each play
• To increase in strength and speed athletically as well as in overall health by being consistent with my workouts and being aware of what I put into my body.  My body is my machine and my temple and I should always treat it as such.
