Personal Statement
I became interested in football when I was in the 4th grade as I watched my classmates play during recess. I found that it seemed fun and that I would want to play myself. That’s when I started playing Tackle Football for the city of Colorado Springs, Colorado. We moved a lot due to my dad being Active Duty in the Army so I didn’t have a chance to stay with the team. When we moved to Virginia, I tried to get back into it by joining the Flag Football team. I played for the season. We moved to another city, Newport News, VA but being new we didn’t immediately find a team to play with till I went to Denbigh High School. I’m now in the team and play Junior Varsity and Varsity football as primarily offensive tackle and secondary defensive tackle.
Playing football showed me that I am determined to meet my goals and helped me build relationships with my teammates, being that I moved a lot in the past it was hard to build relationships but now I have that opportunity and able to concentrate on my goals of playing football.
My academic goals for high school are to study culinary arts so I can perfect my skills in cooking and creating a wide range of menus while also working towards my college academic goals to study Culinary Arts and Business Management so I can eventually own my restaurant.
The main obstacle I experienced was moving and changing schools due to being a military family. It was hard to stay in a team or even find a team to play for. My parents decided we stay put in Virginia to help me overcome that obstacle while I continue to build myself with the Denbigh High School Football Team.
Some other activities I am in include the Band program, I play the trombone and the flute. I also enjoy cooking and creating memorable dishes with my family.
