Personal Statement

The Narrative Continues for Fall 2020:

My name is Kendall Lewis and I am interested in becoming a member of a Division I Football Program an earning a Football Scholarship for the Fall 2020 academic school year.  I am currently matriculating at Virginia State University and I just completed my 1st Semester of my Freshmen year for Fall 2019. My goals for year 1 are to focus on getting good grades and transferring after 1 year to re-enter the NCAA College Football recruitment at a Division I Football Program.  I will have all 4 years of eligibility do to not playing Football this year (2019).  I want to open the lines of communication if a Division I program will be looking for help at DB for Fall 2020. If a Division I Program will be in need of a top notch FS with range, speed and big time play making ability that can cover or play in the box, and can also play CB, look no further because I am your man. I was a 3 year Varsity starter at FS at C.D. Hylton High School and Forest Park High School.

I am a 2019 graduate of C.D. Hylton High School located in Woodbridge Virginia where I was recently the starting FS. We were a football powerhouse in our Cardinal Division 6A Football Conference. I graduated June 1, 2019 and would love to call any Division I Program home for the next four years and I am willing to play Special teams or whatever the Coaches ask me to do. I am a kid with outstanding character and an outstanding work ethic. I believe that I am a Day 1 starter in a Division I Program as a Defensive Back along with playing special teams and I can exceI in any Defensive scheme. I want to help a Division I program win many Championships.

Early is 2019, I declined 6 Football Scholarship Offers. The institutions were BlueField College, Culver-Stockton College, Judson University, Arizona Christian University, Webber International University and Presentation College. These were all fine institutions but my dreams and goals are to graduate from an outstanding institution of higher learning, continue to grow and mature as a young man and play football for a Division I Program . Do to my High School grades being low is the reason why I was not offered a  Division I Football Scholarship.  Before my grades fell drastically, I was gaining attention from Old Dominion University and Ohio University. In addition, I do not want  a lot of financial burden on my parents.

My goal is to graduate from an accredited University or College with a Bachelor's degree in Management.  My focus is to be a great student in the realm of Academia and be an ambassador of the institution that select me academically and to play Football . My focus is to out compete myself and continue to be a student of the game with bringing a tenacious attitude.  I am committed to excellence of the mind, body and soul. I am committed to working hard and operating with a Standard of Excellence, on and off the field.  I am humble and grateful for the opportunities that I have been given.  Also, I am focused and committed and I prefer to let my performance and results speak louder than my words. My parents have made some ultimate sacrifices by loving me, disciplining me, teaching me and ensuring that I have the necessary tools to be successful and a productive citizen in life. I want to earn a scholarship based on merit because I realize football is a meritocracy and I do not want the financial burden to be on my parents. They have given me so much and I owe them the world.

I am excited about entering the new chapter of my life and making the transition from C.D Hylton High School to Virginia State University. I know that I must work hard at Virginia State University in order to accomplish my goals of transferring for Fall 2020 and playing Division I Football. I have learned from my mistakes, I take full accountability for my actions and I understand the task at hand for me to right the ship. In addition, I am also excited about next year and I look forward to hearing from any Division I Programs and competing at the highest level in College Football.
