My name is Trey Wheeler, a 6'1" 204 pound quarterback in the class of 2011 at Liberty High School in Renton, Washington. This season I was honored to be selected as our starting QB for all 14 games. I was given the chance to lead the Liberty Patriots offense in achieving second place in the State of Washington finishing the 2009 campaign with a 12-2 record. We lost to Bellevue in the State Championship Game 23-17 and once prior to Bellevue during the season. Bellevue has won 7 of the last 9 state titles and is led by recent National Coach of the Year, Butch Goncharoff. My stats during the season reflected 157 completions of 258 attempts (61%) for 2385 yards, 29 TDs College Equivalent of 167 Passer Rating - 2008 (Sophomore) 114-196 (58%) for 1650 yards, and 14 TDs. I was equally honored by receiving several awards for my offensive contribution which includes 2009 (Junior) Scout.com - 1st Team All-State Quarterback AP - 2nd Team All-State Quarterback - King-Co Conference 1st Team QB/Punter - Seattle Times All-Area Team - AP First Team All-State Punter - With a strong focus on academics, I've been able to maintain a 3.8 cumulative GPA - Appointed leader of Fellowship of Christian Athletes - 1810 SAT/ 26 ACT Faith/Family/Academics/Athletics - Some vital information of which you might have interest is as follows: Bench-285, Squat-385, Clean-255 - Thank you for your time and consideration in reviewing my profile as a person, student and athlete for your institution. My accomplishments to date are the result of great team and personal coaching which resulted in hard work and dedication to excellence. Other honors of note: I was humbled by having my teammates vote me as the only Junior on our team to be elected Captain. The coaches and players said it was because I earned their respect by exhibiting the highest level of commitment to success in the weight room, in film study, and on the practice field. It was also noted that my on field game demeanor was poised and workman-like. I believe that I can bring that same dedicated approach and resilient mindset to your program. I am looking forward to getting to know your coaching staff soon. Please feel free to email me at email@example.com as I understand you cannot make phone calls until mid April. I am interested in an unofficial visit and of course your skills camp or workouts for recruits.
Mike Snow - Liberty High School Football, Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach
27 years of coaching experience. 2 years as Head Coach of the Milan (Italy) Rhinos of the Italian Professional League 4 years of collegiate coaching (2 UW & 2 Boise State) 21 years of high school experience
I had the chance to coach 2 future NFL quarterbacks, Hugh Millen and Chris Chandler while on staff at the University of Washington. It is my opinion that Trey Wheeler will excel at the D-1 level of college football.
During my 4 years coaching at the UW and Boise State, I had the opportunity to recruit numerous D-1 athletes and to work with many more as a coach at the collegiate/professional level. I have said and still maintain that Trey has a better feel for the mental aspects of the game then either Hugh Millen or Chris Chandler had at this point in their respective careers. Trey's development reminds me of Chris Chandler's in his excellent accuracy, passion for the game and drive to succeed, I have no doubt Trey will be a success at the next level.
It is my opinion that Trey Wheeler will excel due to his accuracy in throwing, work ethic in preparing and exceptional ability to pre-read and then read coverages during the play.
These attributes and character traits have easily separated him from any high school quarterback I have ever worked with in my 21 years of high school experience (2 State Championship games, 1 State title.)
Someone is going to get an outstanding QB when they sign Trey and the rest will find out in the years to come that they missed the boat.
