Over the years, I have participated in several sports, including: football, baseball, basketball, track and competitive soccer. However, football has always been my sport of choice. I've always been intrigued by the knowledge a quarterback has to have about the game to successfully lead a team. That was the position I wanted to play, as a team leader, because I believe football is the ultimate team sport. Knowing that academics will also help in my future as a person on and off the field, I've always been able to balance both quite well. When I was younger I was always told "you are too small" to play football, but finally after some growth spurts, which helped my confidence both physically and mentally; that no longer was an issue. I made the varsity team my sophomore year, but had to sit on the bench behind another quarterback with more experience. I kept on working and honing my skills though, and then got the chance in the second half of game two of my junior year. Believe me, I made the most of it and haven't looked back since. In addition, my coaches have contributed greatly to not only my experience, but to our team's success. I contribute both the positives and negatives from both my coaches and teammates in making me a better player. With that stated, what I've learned about the game as a quarterback has given me a mental edge when leading my team. What this has taught me is, not only do the players on your team respect you, the opposing team also shows you respect in how they defend against you. As far as my future, I'm looking forward to a spectacular year while finishing high school, and then contributing to a college program as a student and athlete. After college, I see myself continuing with football, either as a player or coach. Finally, some statistics that you may find interesting: 196/278, 70% completion; and 30 touchdowns with 29 of them coming this last year.
