Personal Statement
My name is Xavier Cooper, my team mates and friends call me "X". I have been involved in athletics since I was 5 years old. Soccer, baseball, swimming, and basketball. I started playing football when I got too big for soccer. This is my 4th year playing football and I still play basketball.
I am 6ft 4" tall and 265lbs and still growing. I am a athlete and I love competition. I have always demonstrated leadership on all the teams I have played on and in the class room as a student. One of my strengths is my footwork and strength. My goal is to obtain a college athletic scholarship to take the financial pressure off my parents.
I would like to attend a school where I can play as a true freshman if possible, where I can contribute immediately in a "college town" with a strong commitment to it's locale community . I am interested in a school where the ability to learn in a class room setting and the opportunity for individual class room attention is possible when the need arises. I plan to major in communications with plans to enter broadcast journalism when my playing days are over.
This past season was disappointing for our team but I learned a lot as a second year varsity player. I was named to the all city team by the Tacoma Weekly newspaper, honorable mention all area and voted as one of the top 20 athletes to watch for next season in another . This was a very humbling honor for me.
I believe that I can offer schools interested in me a good student athlete with excellent character, strong leadership skills on and off the field, and will represent the institution in the community to the very best of my ability. I am a diamond in the rough still growing and learning but given the opportunity I believe I will be a great recruit. I look forward to talking with schools and coaches about my future and how I can contribute to the success of their programs.
Thanks Xavier Cooper
