Cooper Helm '11 Recruiting Profile

Hello - my name is Cooper Helm I am a Senior at Wenatchee High School a 4A school in Wenatchee, Washington. I am a 3 sport Varsity athlete in football, basketball and track. As a Sophomore, I was the starting quarterback for about half of the Varsity games. As a Junior, I was the starting Free Safety as well as starting Receiver and back up quarterback. I was also the PAT/FG holder. For this, my Senior year, I am the starting quarterback, starting free safety, and PAT/FG holder. In basketball, I was the starting Wing this last year. In track, for the past two years, I have been the lead leg of our 4x400 meter relay team, winning the State championship during my Sophomore year, and breaking the school both years. After graduation, my goal is to play quarterback at the highest collegiate level possible, although I am willing to do whatever is best to help the team. I have been repeatedly told and praised that one of my strengths as an athlete is my intelligence. I am an intelligent athlete, and pride myself on making very few mental mistakes as well as being able to read defenses and make the correct adjustments, quickly. I have also been told I am very coach-able and have a strong work ethic. One area that I am working on is my size. I am 6'3" 180 lbs. Because of the nature of the 3 sports that I play, gaining weight has been a challenge, but I am working with a Sports Nutritionist on gaining muscle mass and making sure that I convert that mass to functional strength. Academically, I hold a 3.7 GPA and just completed AP Calculus. Science is my favorite subject and I am considering entering the Pharmaceutical field. Academics and athletics are both important to me. My family is a sports family with my older brother playing high school football and track, my mom being a collegiate hurdler, and my dad playing collegiate football. My dad was also a high school head football coach. I have attended the Barton Football Combine here in Washington, the Nike Football Combine in Portland, the Northwest Elite Football Combine, as well as a Football University Camp in the Seattle area. I am looking forward to my Senior year and am motivated to play collegiate football. Thank you.
